چکیده

Low-grade waste heat conversion to electricity has drawn much attention toward reduction of production cost (Matsuura, Rowe et al. 1992, Rowe 1995, Ebrahimi, Jones et al. 2014). Organic Rankine cycle has been recently proved as a feasible solution with about 7% thermal efficiency and initial cost of about $2/watt for a high temperature of 116 °C and low temperature of 25 °C (Imran, Park et al. 2014, Matsuda 2014, Minea 2014). Thermoelectric generators is thought to be an alternative solution. The barriers for thermoelectric generators are the low conversion efficiency of about 3% and high initial cost of about $20/watt (Rowe 2012, Ebrahimi, Jones et al. 2014). However, recent development of optimal design on thermoelectric generators indicates that significant improvement in both performance and cost could be achieved (Lee 2010, Lee 2013, Attar, Lee et al. 2014, Weera 2014). Together particularly with a small operating cost due to no moving parts, thermoelectric generators would be a good and reliable candidate for lowgrade waste heat recovery with the present optimal design.

Conceptual design of a waste heat recovery cycle is carried out in attempt to enhance the thermal efficiency of a steam power plant. In the recovery system, super-critical an CO2 is employed as the working fluid operating in a Brayton cycle. Low grade heat rejected by the flue gases through the stack is used as the primary heat source, while a secondary heat exchanger utilizes th...

Multi-objective optimization of heat recovery steam generators

In this paper, a multi-objective method is used to optimize a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). Two objective functions have been used in the optimization, which are irreversibility and HRSG equivalent volume. The former expresses the exergetic efficiency and the latter demonstrates the cost of the HRSG. Decision variables are geometric and operational parameters of the HRSG. The result...

Design and analysis of a thermoelectric generator for a heavy-duty vehicle in ‎real road test

Heavy duty vehicles have a great share on fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gases in the world, while they waste two third of chemical energy of fuel. On the other hand, simplicity and long life of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are considered more and more to convert thermal energy to electrical one. In this paper a TEG designed in the exhaust system of Renault Midlum 195 Dxi Engine. Th...
